Module 14

Each art piece has there own unique message and stance on these issues which are fairly easy to understand and analyze. The artists whos work I've chosen each have their own artistic style and message. Each piece is trying to make viewers reflect on the world around them.

1. Why did you select the inspiration pieces? 2. Why did you select the media to create your self-portrait? It was easier to make the portrait like how I wanted. 3. What challenges did you face in creating your self-portrait and how did you overcome them? The face shape and proportions 4. How does this piece represent you? I believe this piece represents a little bit of how I see myself. 5. What elements and principles of art did you apply in this work? 6. Did you enjoy working on this project? It was interesting yet weird drawing myself. 7. What do you think of your final artwork? Considering I'm really not an artist I'm overall happy with how the portrait turned out.

Module 13

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. The three videos discuss art museums and analyzing artwork at galleries and museums. 2. Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Exhibition project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not. These videos relate to the Art Exhibition project in the sense of analyzing artwork. 3. What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to understanding of the art concepts you practiced while creating your curation project? The videos are good to watch before working on the Art Exhibition project. They give you a better understanding of describing artwork using concepts such as color, texture, etc.

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I watched Uncertainty: Modernity and Art and Abstract Expressionism and Pop to learn more about artworks and concepts that are more modern.  2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. Uncertainty and Abstract Expressionism discuss art styles and works made in the 20th century. Both videos discuss how art has evolved over the centuries.  3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? The videos take art concepts from the text and put them into modern and real-life settings. 4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to the understanding of the readings and art concepts? It was interesting to watch the development of art that is considered to be more modern. 

Module 11

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I chose to watch Matisse and Picasso to learn more about the two painters. I watched The Mystic North to learn more about Spanish art from the past and present. 2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. The video Matisse and Picasso discuss the connection between the two well-known artists. The Mystic North discusses several Spanish artists and their works, and well as addressing how Spanish art has evolved to the present day. 3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? These two videos look at art in a more historical sense that you can also get from the text. They discuss well-known artists that are also discussed in the readings, such as Picasso.  4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts? These videos were pretty interesting to watch. They give you a look at art that...

Module 10 Video Review

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I chose to watch African Art and Hinduism to gain more of an insight on Hinduism and its influence on art, as well as the influences of African artwork.  2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. African Art show how much of artwork created in African takes much inspiration from ancient times. Hinduism reveals how the religion has inspired artworks.  3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? The videos explain how works of art shown in African Art and Hinduism utilize certain elements and principles of art shown in the text.   4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts? The videos are also good visual tools. These two videos give examples of artistic terms, elements, and principles being used in the real world. 

Mask Making

1. Upload the three (3) inspiration images to your Blog (or link to your Photobucket account).  Explain why you selected the inspiration pieces. I chose these three images as inspiration for my mask because I've always found masquerade masks to be interesting design wise.  2. Include the analysis and description (art criticism steps) of the three (3) inspiration pieces. Each of the images/pieces follows a very similar style of design. The space in each of the masks is being filled in with unique, mostly spirally designs.  3. Upload images of your sketchs and finished piece. 4. Explain how you used the Elements and Principles in your finished mask. When creating the mask I began to loosely create some sort of symmetry before making the design more random.  5.
